Department of Infrastructure

  • Development of the Don't risk it! CD-ROM for primary schools. This focuses on pedestrian safety at rail level crossings and provides students with interesting interactive activities and resources for teachers.
  • Development of the School Travel Planning Guide. This multimedia CD-ROM guide provides advice to schools and local government on collecting and analysing data about the ways students currently travel to school. It also sets out a process for planning ways to encourage more students to walk, cycle or use public transport to travel to and from school, rather than depend on car use.   • Development of the TravelSMART Curriculum program. This program focuses on reducing car travel for students and families by encouraging use of more healthy and environmentally friendly transport options - including walking and cycling to school. The program is being piloted in 6 primary schools. The project involves the development of teaching resources, promotional materials and a website. This is in partnership with GDP Consultancy Pty Ltd.

  • Developed get on board! This is a secondary school public transport interactive CD-ROM and accompanying teacher guide. This was in partnership with GDP Consultancy Pty Ltd.
  • Redeveloped the Travel On program resource, which focuses on public transport safety for primary school aged children. The redeveloped resource includes a comprehensive teachers guide with class activities at each CSF II level, ideas for excursions using public transport and a variety of resources for use by teachers. The program also includes parent materials and a promotional poster.
  • Developed the Guide to Getting There Safely for the Public Transport Corporation, which linked class activities in an existing program to the Victorian Curriculum and Standards Framework.

 

VicRoads

  • Redevelopment of the Bike Ed primary school cycling education program. This includes a video, teacher manual and all resources required for schools to run the Bike Ed program. The development included a trial of draft material in schools.
  • Developed Chasing the Dream, which is a booklet designed for over 30 year olds returning to motorcycling or taking it up for the first time. it provides advice on a range of issues associated with buying a motorcycle, wearing the right protective gear, undertaking rider training and taking it easy on the road.
  • Undertook the redevelopment of the Victorian Rider Motorcycle Handbook. This involved development of content, photography and design. The project also involved working closely with a reference group of key stakeholders from motorcycle interest groups
  • In association with GDP Consultancy Pty Ltd, undertook the redevelopment of the Starting Out Safely program, which is the key VicRoads early childhood road safety education program.
  • Developed a resource for VCE English teachers and students - Taking VCE English on the Road.
  • Developed the 2002-2007 Victorian Traffic Safety Education Action Plan. This has included writing the plan, and design of the plan and an associated poster.
  • Redeveloped the Safe Routes To Schools Guidelines, a community road safety intervention program aimed at school children. The guidelines were written and designed to best meet the needs of those involved in delivery of the program - staff from VicRoads, schools and local government.
  • Developed the GoSafe Program, which is a community road safety program targeting secondary schools. This included development of implementation guidelines, pedestrian and cycling safety resources for teachers and a guide to traffic safety educational resources for schools.
  • As part of the Saferoads Local Government Road Safety Initiative, undertook the development of a Child Restraint Information Package and reported on consultations with key stakeholders, to determine other information packages to be developed.
  • Undertook the development of new program components of a pedestrian safety information resource for use by local government as part of the Saferoads initiative.
  • In association with GDP Consultancy Pty Ltd, undertook the development of a bicycle safety information resource for use by local government as part of the Saferoads initiative. This involved consultation with a range of key stakeholders with an interest in bicycle safety, including a number of municipalities.
  • Undertook the development of a guide to evaluating road safety programs and professional development module on evaluation of road safety programs. This included trial of both components with target audiences - local government officers and Community Road Safety Councils. This project was conducted in association with GDP Consultancy Pty Ltd.
  • Redeveloped the existing School Bus Safety Workshop program and the School Bus Safety Transition Program. This included the development of program manuals and support materials for program facilitators.

 

Transport Accident Commission (TAC)

  • Developed Traffic Safety Essentials, which is the core secondary school road safety education program in Victoria. This program focuses on Year 10 and was successfully trialled in a secondary schools. This project was conducted in association with GDP Consultancy Pty Ltd.
  • Developed Kids On The Move, which is the core primary school traffic safety education program in Victoria. The program was extensively trialled in schools and its implementation is supported by a professional development program for teachers. This project was conducted in association with GDP Consultancy Pty Ltd.



RACV

  • Developed the RACV primary school road safety program and support materials - the Street Scene program. Also developed the RACV pre-school road safety program and support materials - the Hand-in-Hand program. These projects have all been conducted in partnership with GDP Consultancy Pty Ltd.
  • Developed a pilot parent commitment program and materials targeting parents supervising learner drivers.This project was conducted in partnership with GDP Consultancy Pty Ltd.

 

Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE)

  • Managed the implementation of a range of strategies to support the use of learning technologies - computer technologies and the Internet - in the community education sector. This has included strategic planning, project management, program evaluation, training and conference organization and project managing a 12 month statewide Skills.net project involving 24 community education centres.
